When I was first coming up with a recipe for my Overnight Cream I wanted to make a cream that was rich, ultra moisturizing & luxurious! So I went to my ingredient supplier's website and litterally clicked through all of the oils and hydrosols they offered. I read all of the descriptions and made a list of everything for very dry, cracked skin. I suffer from very dry skin that sometimes literally feels like sandpaper and flakes off in big patches. Using my cold cream every night as a cleanser definately helped but for skin as dry as mine I needed something more. The end result is a cream that is deeply moisturizing, very rich, makes your skin feel like silk but easily penetrates your skin so it doesn't feel greasy. And it won't make you break out! The purpose of this post is to really highlight all the ingredients used in my Overnight Cream so that those of you who are curious can find out more and so those of you who already use and love the Overnight Cream will really get to know all the goodies you are feeding your skin every night!

First up is the oil phase which includes all the oils, beeswax, shea butter, vitamin E and organic soy lecithin.
Beeswax - Helps to emulsify the cream, lends emollient, softening properties and works as a humectant.
Avocado Oil - Avocado Oil is a stable, emollient, highly penetrating oil. The natural content of Vitamins A and E promotes natural collagen production and work synergistically to improve the skins tone and texture. Together with potassium and sterolins, these nutrients encourage epidermal cell turnover, making the oil ideal for anti-aging products, dry skin formulations and as a treatment for damaged skin cells (burns, scars) and a range of skin conditions that include eczema and psoriasis. Avocado Oil is rich in unsaturated essential fatty acids and is a natural choice for hydrating skin.
Baobab Oil - Virgin Baobab Seed Oil is especially rich in Vitamin E, Vitamin A and sterols. It is highly emollient, helps maintain radiant, supple skin, supports skin elasticity and minimizes the appearance of wrinkle and fine lines. The significant level of fatty acids contributes to the oils effectiveness when used to soothe and nourish dry and problem skin. Its high tocopherol content makes it a strong anti-oxidant.
Buriti Fruit Oil - Buriti Fruit Oil, Mauritia flexuosa, possesses the remarkable ability to nourish, moisturize and repair the epidermis and improve the elasticity of maturing skin. It is highly beneficial in formulations intended to treat and heal burns and sun damaged skin. Buriti Oil has strong antioxidant properties and protects the skin from free radical damage.
Camellia Seed Oil - Approximately 85% of the fatty acid composition contained in Camellia Oil is in the form of monounsaturated oleic acid. Camellia Oil is also a rich source of other omega 3,6 and 9 fatty acids plus Vitamin E and polyphenols.
Cranberry Seed Oil - Cranberry Seed Oil easily penetrates the skin and is highly moisturizing. It is rich in tocotrienols and tocopherols (Vitamin E) and other antioxidants. Testing indicates that Cranberry Seed Oil possesses the highest quantity of tocotrienols of any vegetable oil. It possesses a unique balance of Omega 3, 6 and 9 essential fatty acids not found in other oils. Cranberry Oil can aid in the relief of itchy, scaly, irritated skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Cranberry Seed Oil also contains a significant amount of Vitamin A, making it a good choice for inclusion within blends for acne or blemished skin.
Evening Primrose Oil - Organic Evening Primrose Oil is high in gamma-linolenic acid (an essential fatty acid) making it an exceptional skin nourishing oil. The human body does not produce essential fatty acids such as linoleic and linolenic acids. It, therefore, is important to get these nutrients through diet and topical application. Essential fatty acids inhibit bacterial growth and allow our systems to defend against infection and inflammation. Organic Evening Primrose Oil is highly recommended for dry skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis.

Strawberry Seed Oil - Strawberry Seed Oil, produced from the tiny seeds of these vibrant red berries, is gaining increased recognition for its impressive composition of essential fatty acids that includes up to 38% Omega-3 Linolenic Acid. Strawberry Seed Oil is also reported to be a rich source of tocopherols and anti-oxidants.
Black Raspberry Seed Oil - Black Raspberry Seed Oil is a highly versatile oil that helps maintain skin elasticity and soothes and helps protect against an array of skin conditions. It is ideal for cosmetic and personal care applications that include formulations intended for problem, damaged, maturing or sensitive skin. It absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy feel and leaves the skin looking and feeling hydrated.
Abyssinian Seed Oil - It hydrates and plumps the skin while balancing the tone and texture.
Chardonnay Grape Seed Oil - Cold pressed Chardonnay Grapeseed Oil is a treat for the skin. This highly prized oil is bursting with antioxidants and phytonutrients for the skin.
Shea Butter - African healers have used Shea Butter for thousands of years as the ideal treatment for dry or aging skin. Its high content of non-saponifiables and unique fatty acid profile gives Shea Butter the ability to moisturize and retain the elasticity of the skin. Shea Butter also helps to protect the skin against the damaging effects of the sun while repairing cellular degeneration.

Vitamin E - It can help heal acne, promote wound healing and prevent scarring from eczema or psoriasis. Topical vitamin E moisturizes the skin from within, reduces UV induced damage, helps to protect against ozone damage and decreases erythema (redness of the skin) after sun exposure.
Organic Soy Lecithin - Organic Soy Lecithin is rich in the B complex vitamins and is highly nutritive for the skin.
Next is the water phase which contains the hydrosols and aloe vera gel as well as the preservative grapefruit seed extract.
Organic Carrot Seed Hydrosol - It is a good choice for anti-aging formulations and formulations intended to treat eczema, psoriasis, scars, burns, rashes and damaged skin.
Organic Chamomile Hydrosol - is a strong anti-inflammatory recommended for burns, sunburns, rashes, itching as well as eczema and psoriasis.
Aloe Vera Gel - Pure Aloe Vera Gel is known for its ability to soothe, moisturize and protect the skin.

Lastly are the essential oil blends. I mix these in at the very end after the cream has emulsified and cooled, right before it goes into jars. I added these because I wanted this cream to feel like an indulgence and smell is a big part of that! Each of these four blends is very sensual, exoctic and luxurious....perfect for evening!
Good Night - possesses layers of individual oils, each with unique soothing properties that help you sink deeply into the pillow. Good Night is an even blend of Chamomile, Clary Sage, Copaiba, Lavender, Peru Balsam, Sandalwood, Sweet Marjoram and Ylang Ylang.
Adoration - With a luscious and sweet aroma comprised of a compelling combination of Cedarwood, Patchouli, Sweet Orange and Ylang Ylang.

Aphrodisiac - is a provocative blend of Jasmine, Lavender, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Sweet Orange and Ylang Ylang.
Sensation - A lush, multi-layered, vibrant mixture of Jasmine, Patchouli, Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood and Sweet Orange.
